!distain - On/Off

Artist:
!distain
Release:
On/Off
Label:
Echozone

Well, it’s been quite the time since I last listened to a decent synth - pop band reminiscent of the good/old 80s. Thankfully, gentlemen Alexander Braun and Manfred Thomaser have meant to take care of it, making up for the musical vacuum. The essence is: the duo has carefully harked at this era they live in, adapting their very sound.

2011 finds Florida metalles  Trivium on there best moment of their career so far. With a new drummer (Nick Augusto) in their ranks the bands strives for success as it never had before. ‘In Waves’ is ferocious, heavy, melodic, a sincere record for Trivium who blended all those elements and sealed them with their trademark sound.

This Morn' Omina - L'Unification Des Forces Opposantes

Artist:
This Morn' Omina
Release:
L'Unification Des Forces Opposantes
Label:
Ant-Zen

Let's start backwards:Ant-Zen is in my opinion one of the finest labels out there. Each of their releases is carefully selected and all possible details(layouts, packaging) are tremendously well designed, almost touching perfection, I could say. It would not be an exaggeration to state that since its conception, Ant-Zen has turned out to be one of the leading labels in the fields of industrial culture and its subdivisions, may them be ambient, rhythmic noise or even power electronics.

TPOE Machine District

Artist:
TPOE
Release:
Machine District
Label:
Vendetta Music

"Machine District" is the new album for The Peoples Republic Of Europe.I must say that I was familiar with them, since I had listened to their tunes in the past. I should also admit that the thing that originally made me develop an interest for this group was their name! I loved it really and so, I went on to find more on this band.Second factor that arose my interest is their origin:being from the Netherlands, they are one of the few industrial/electro acts emerging from this country (the most famous of which is obviously,Grendel).

CygnosiC

By now,CygnosiC should be a well known name in the dark electro field.Having already established that fact with his debut "A Deity In Pain",including a handful of live performances,he makes a strong return to the scene, marked by the release of his new album,"Fallen".Curious to know more about this new effort,I contacted George. This lead to a quite interesting conversation,I guess...

Noctem - Oblivion

Artist:
Noctem
Release:
Oblivion
Label:
Rising Records

“Popol Vuh”  is a corpus of mytho-historical narratives of the Post Classic Quiché kingdom in Guatemala's western highlands. The title translates as "Book of the Community," "Book of Counsel", or more literally as "Book of the People”.  “Popol Vuh”'s prominent features are its creation myth, its epic tales of the Hero Twins and its genealogies. The myth begins with the exploits of anthropomorphic ancestors and concludes with a new genealogy, perhaps as an assertion of divine right rule.

In Viro - Gehοrche!Fuhle!Glaube!

Artist:
In Viro
Release:
Gehοrche!Fuhle!Glaube!
Label:
Echozone

In Viro are a band coming from Germany, whose name,I have to admit, was not familiar to me,before writing this review. Something not that strange perhaps, since this is their debut release!
The title, which could be translated as Obey!Feel!Believe! is very clever, giving us an insight of what is to be found within this cd:the dominant style here is a crossover between electro and metal, not so far away from the Neue Deutsche Harte movement. As one can easily understand,In Viro bear a strong resemblance to the leading figures of this movement, who are no others than Rammstein.
